Announcement: EEA Teleworking


Esteemed members and partners of the Ethiopian Economics Association

We wish to extend our best wishes of safety and wellbeing for you and your family!

As a precautionary measure, and also in compliance with the Ethiopian government guidance for social distancing, the Ethiopian Economics Association has made necessary arrangements to both protect staff against COVID-19 infection as well as ensure business continuity of the EEA activities. Effective 26 March 2020, all EEA businesses will be teleworked until further notice.

Notwithstanding, all conferences, meetings, and library services are postponed until further update.

In view of the above, our members and partners may contact the following staff members for relevant areas of work.

  1. Professor Mengistu Ketema( – Team leader – Research and Analysis who will be supported by Dr. Degye Habteyesus ( . They will ensure continuity of R&A activities including preparation of the Annual State of the Ethiopian Economy.
  2. Rahel Yilma ( – responsible for the EEA’s publications, and the Ethiopian Journal of Economics;
  3. Eyerusalem Tesfaye ( – responsible for membership communication, library and related matters;
  4. Dawit Teshale ( –responsible for conference coordination and project related activities;
  5. Demirew Getachew( – Team Leader for Secretariat services and business development – supported by Sefialem Liben ( Demirew will be responsible for staff welfare, building safety, and all administrative arrangement including overseeing finance and budget matters.
  6. Sisay Asfaw( – responsible for finance and budget supported by Tariku T/Mariam and Mulu G/Medhin;
  7. Dr. Getachew Diriba ( – Head of Secretariat and Chief Executive Officer – responsible for the overall EEA affairs and coordination of EEA activities, resources, and staff.
